Biography

BIOGRAPHY – GEORGE P. FORGIE, SCA – 1932

TORONTO, ONTARIO

NOTE OF INTRODUCTION

  1. a) Beginning: Landscape – strong influence with our Canadians
  2. b) Entered a period of imaginary people in surreal, dreamy backgrounds

This period was called my “Romantic” period.

  • Landscape became a backdrop. The figure was now pursued.
  • Eventually paint was heavily applied.
  1. c) Discipline period followed. The silhouette was born.
  2. d) Overnight the silhouette emerged into realism using high keyed color – thinly applied
  3. e) Direction of above developed into photo, or high, realism with well-defined hard edges, remained for many years.

— “Pointillism”, high keyed color, thinly applied paint

  1. f) In the 1990’s, I took a time out –

– Two books written – one yet to be published

– Private showings of paintings in my home

– Drew, and prepared to resume painting again

  1. g) AT PRESENT:

– Pointillism, hard edge remains somewhat – small dashes/dots now

becoming emotionally charged shapes

– Traditional subject matter dominates

– Realism: (abstract – surreal undertones)

AIM: As always, to create a sense of peace, tranquility, silence
